The first stage does the heavy lifting — it reduces the high pressure from your tank to an intermediate pressure that the second stage can turn into breathable air. Key features:

Classic piston-downstream design – robust and proven. Body made of chrome-plated brass with high-pressure (HP) and four low-pressure (LP) ports for hoses and accessories.

Cold-water ready: XTIS (Extended Thermal Insulating System) – internal components are insulated to resist freezing; claimed ~50% improvement in freeze-resistance versus earlier models. 1

Compact but powerful piston – the first stage is slightly smaller than the predecessor (body reduced by 3.5 mm) but has an oversized piston (by 1.6 mm) that improves breathing performance and increases airflow by ~15%.
